Participation in the strike by workers in the airport handler sector was high, with peaks of 90%. Consequence: numerous inconveniences due to the cancellation of several flights, with a particular impact on connections to and from Sardinia. Only flights guaranteed by ENAC took place.

The trade union organizations Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uil-Trasporti express in a note the reasons that led to the protest, which derive from the challenges encountered in the renewal of the national contract for the sector, which has been in force for over 6 years.

The union organizations denounce that "the employers' associations, while proposing a minimum increase in the salary scales, do not adequately take into account current inflation and future forecasts during the period of validity of the contract". Furthermore, "they require substantial changes to numerous contractual aspects which, ultimately, would lead to a renewal of the contract at no cost for the companies and zero benefits for the workers".

With a view to balancing the competitiveness of companies and the well-being of employees, "the unions agree on the need to obtain a contractual agreement that satisfies the workers' requests". The primary objective is to ensure adequate economic treatment and solid individual protection.

Until this objective is achieved, the announcement reads, «the unions will continue to pursue with determination the demands that represent the interests of the workers. New actions will be organized to express dissent towards the requests of the employer counterparts.
