No to wind turbines in the areas of Sardinia at risk of fires. This is the heart of the bill presented by the Sardinian deputy of the 5 Star Movement, Emiliano Fenu.

"I hope that the Government and the majority will allow a rapid implementation of the bill and, in the first useful provision, the acceptance of the similar amendment", writes the parliamentarian in a note.

«Yesterday too, Sardinia experienced a very heavy day on the fire front» , continues the five-star exponent, «hundreds of hectares went up in smoke, farms devastated, people evacuated and commercial activities destroyed by the flames. From January 1st to July 22nd this year there were 1,135 fires in Sardinia. Even the firefighters are paying a very high price, in terms of sacrifices and too high risk of losing their lives."

The intervention of aerial vehicles «has been, is and will be increasingly fundamental in fighting fires. But there is an enormous risk which is added to the concrete risk of forest fires and is linked to the presence of wind turbines which hinder the arrival of emergency vehicles and in some cases negatively influence the effectiveness of fire extinguishing interventions".
