Green light for the redevelopment of the water network of the municipalities of Sassari and Porto Torres .

This is the provisions of EGAS, the Government Body of the Sector of Sardinia, with the approval of two projects drawn up by Abbanoa SpA for a total of three million and 630 thousand euros, POR FESR 2014-2020 funds for the recovery of losses on the water network of the municipalities of Sardinia with higher dispersion indexes .

Part of the pipes can be replaced by new ones in more performing materials and diameters, preferring spheroidal cast iron for the new laying.

With 2 million and 80 thousand euros the most significant intervention is in Porto Torres , one of the most critical municipalities of the island for water dispersion: according to what emerged from a monitoring campaign that measured the flow and pressure values of the water in the network , in the city there are losses ranging between 67% and 74% , probably due to the use over the years of inadequately resistant materials.

Over 4 thousand meters of pipelines will be replaced and the intervention will affect in particular Via del Melo, Via del Mirto, Via del Noce, Via del Pero, Via dell'Alloro, Via dell'Asfodelo, Via delle Ginestre, Via delle Mimose, Via e Vicolo dei Corbezzoli, Via degli Olivi, Via del Cisto and Via del Lentischio.

In Sassari, however, 1 million 550 thousand euros will be invested and 3,385 meters of pipeline will be replaced in via Fermi, via Barori, via Contini, via Genova, via Chessa, via Dolcetta, via Lu Regnu, via Padre Luca, via Mereu, via Pisurzi, via Rafael Sari and via Palmas.

With the approval of the executive projects by EGAS, Abbanoa will be able to proceed with the award of the works .

"The serious water dispersion affecting the territories of the municipalities of Sassari and Porto Torres - comments the president of Egas Fabio Albieri -   it represents a damage not only for the communities that are directly affected by it, but for the whole island. Sardinia cannot afford to allow precious resources to be wasted and the interventions recently approved by Egas are part of a wider redevelopment program of the most critical areas of the island ”.
