The Sassari Local Health Authority (ASL) is launching the Tourist Medical Emergency Service, a healthcare assistance service for tourists spending their holidays on the northwest coast of Sardinia. The first clinics to open will be those in Stintino and Castelsardo, which will be open starting Monday, June 29. The Tourist Medical Emergency Services in Alghero and Platamona are also expected to open in the coming weeks. These are public facilities, designed to provide basic healthcare to non-residents. The doctor at the Tourist Medical Emergency Service clinic can prescribe medications, request diagnostic tests and specialist visits, and make hospitalization recommendations based on a National Health Service prescription. They can also issue medical certificates; if necessary, they can also visit the patient's home. For serious illnesses requiring urgent specialist hospital care, patients should instead contact the Emergency Rooms of the hospitals in Alghero, Ozieri, and Sassari. Services are paid for according to the fee schedule established by the Region of Sardinia. A payment reminder will be issued for each service provided. On Monday, June 29, the Stintino Tourist Medical Center will open at the Hotel Roccaruja, on Via Angelo Moratti. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday: 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. In Castelsardo, at Via Porto Turistico 78, next to the 118 emergency number, opening hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday: 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
