More than 30 cars (33 to be precise) without insurance, dozens of infringements of the Highway Code for a total of 165 points deducted from licenses.
This is the monthly balance of the traffic police checks in the Nuoro area to prevent the so-called "Saturday night massacres": more than 400 cars checked, three were subjected to seizure.
The operators of the Nuoro Traffic Police Section, with the dependent Detachments of Siniscola and Orosei, concentrated the verification activities in the tourist centers (La Caletta, Posada, Budoni, San Teodoro) and on the Statale 131, because, in addition to being by a considerable volume of traffic of heavy vehicles and commercial vehicles on weekdays, it is currently involved, on long stretches, by important maintenance works which determine the reduction of the carriageway.
The Police also make use of the "Street Control", a device which, once positioned on the service vehicle, remotely reads the vehicle number plates and makes it possible to detect in real time the regularity of the insurance coverage and of the inspection.
