There is money to continue the work on State Road 128 , the Centrale Sarda which cuts the Trexenta in two, bringing it closer to the Cagliari hinterland . It is only a small section that will be carried out in the coming months, but it is still good news for the area. News arrived after an interlocution between the mayor of Mandas Umberto Oppus and the regional councilor for Public Works Pierluigi Saiu.

«At the end of January the project will be submitted for approval to all interested bodies who will then have ninety days to express their opinions», says Mayor Oppus. The next phase involves the environmental impact assessment and the launch of the tender.

The route winds from Mandas (start of the construction site near the Su Angiu archaeological area) to the Suelli-Seuni roundabout. The regional department for public works has allocated 19.5 million to carry out the work (in total, considering the works already completed, the investment on the state road therefore rises to 40 million euros).

" The hope is that we can now proceed without hesitation , starting a quick bureaucratic process to carry out a fundamental work to be contracted out immediately to further reduce travel times to Cagliari", says the mayor of Mandas Umberto Oppus .

Reassurances in this sense come directly from the Sardinia Region. «With the latest change to the budget we have allocated important resources for the improvement of roads in an area that deserves great consideration , for the many economic businesses present and obviously for the residents who will be guaranteed investments aimed at improving the quality of life», underlines the regional councilor Stefano Schirru, president of the budget council commission.

The new stretch of road will also have the advantage of connecting the centers of the upper Trexenta to State Road 128 and increasing the safety standard of local roads.
