The Region has ordered the State Property Agency to stop leasing state-owned public property on the island.

"It is time for the State to respect the provisions of the Special Statute of Sardinia ", the words of the Councilor for Local Authorities and Urban Planning, Francesco Spanedda. He explains: " The assets that are no longer useful for government functions must be transferred to the Region, as established by Article 14 of the Statute . This principle must be applied always and not in a discontinuous and partial manner, as has often happened up to now ".

THE PROPERTIES – The national tender also includes important properties, such as the former military battery of Capo d'Orso in Palau and the former Finance Department of Sassari; there are five properties in total, from La Maddalena (former Poggio Raso battery) to Asinara (Cala Reale) passing through Palau and Sassari . «It is urgent - explains the assessor - to start a political-institutional discussion to define clear and rapid methods of transferring the properties . We ask that those included in the Crea Valore program, evidently no longer functional to the State, be assigned to the regional heritage».

Spanedda then announces the start, in the next few weeks, of a process «with the Regional Council, and in particular with the competent Commissions in the matter, to approve as soon as possible a regional law that makes Article 14 fully effective , so that Sardinia can finally fully exercise its autonomy and enhance its heritage in the interest of its citizens. In addition to this, we are studying a series of regulatory revisions to facilitate the transfer of the assets that the Region has acquired from the State to local authorities and citizens».

The halt to the procedures initiated by the State Property Agency is also at the centre of a motion signed by eleven regional councillors , according to whom these assets "disused for years and no longer intended for state purposes, should be part of the regional heritage and not the object of private valorisation, especially without any involvement of Sardinian institutions".
