Nurses at the Businco, Microcitemico, and San Michele hospitals in Cagliari, owned by Arnas Brotzu, are on strike. The Nursing Up union announced the decision, stating that "a dangerous sequence of unresolved organizational, managerial, and financial issues are being ignored and excluded from union discussions."

At the heart of the demands are "the real critical issues facing healthcare workers," regional director Diego Murracino attacks, "such as the consequences of staff shortages, respect for professionalism, fair wages, and the right to canteens. Healthcare workers are exhausted, working conditions in the departments are difficult , and ensuring care with a limited number of staff on shifts puts the work environment at risk. Shift coverage in the departments continues with overtime, additional services, and double night shifts."

A series of problems to which the company would add "the failure to comply with contractual provisions, signed agreements, rulings, commitments undertaken by Arnas Brotzu, and the failure to respond to numerous reports of critical issues in the various hospital wards."

In order to find solutions to prevent a strike in support of union demands, Nursing Up is asking the Prefect of Cagliari to initiate a cooling-off procedure.
