The Municipality of Cagliari and the Region decide what they want to do by March 31st. Otherwise «Cagliari Calcio and Costim will evaluate the most suitable path to protect the interest of the project and the expenses incurred». Which could lead to lawsuits and claims for damages. The time has come for the ultimatum on the new stadium: it is being launched by the rossoblù club and its industrial partner in the investment for the new plant: it is a letter sent today to Christian Solinas and Paolo Truzzu.

Theme at the center of the document: the 50 million public share that the company deems necessary to be able to build the stadium.

Cagliari retraces the process, which started in 2015. Since the approval of the public interest, which the city council approved in 2016, «and in the following six years, the interlocutions and collaboration with the institutions have always been devoted to dialogue and to the desire to implement the project needs».

The procedure went ahead with a continuous exchange of documentation, until the adoption of the "New Sant'Elia Stadium Guide Project and related urban connections", in November 2019.

A document which, writes Tommaso Giulini's club, "imposed certain criteria and guidelines for the drafting of the design of the new stadium in Cagliari, which had a substantial impact on the design idea and the technical, legal and economic cornerstones based of the proposal".

The new economic and financial plan was adopted between July and December of last year. The one that foresees an expenditure of over 157 million euros, more than doubled compared to the initial forecasts.

The letter reads that for Cagliari and Costim «it is important to underline that by virtue of the repeated desire of the writers to create an ambitious, fascinating and strongly identifying work, a symbol and pride of Sardinia and its people, also contributing to the general development of the system football in Italy, with a view to concrete opportunities such as the candidacy to host the UEFA Euro 2032 European championships, for which the city has recently sent a preliminary dossier to the FIGC, to date they have incurred and certified expenses on the project exceeding 1 .6 million euros".

In the conclusions, the companies underline «the importance of having confirmations regarding the need for the public contribution of balance of 50 million highlighted in the economic-financial plan of the project, in the firm belief that complex and innovative investments such as the one in question can only be achieved through the profitable combination of skills and public and private capitals».

Region and Municipality have until March 31st. Then it will be battle.
