"For Tuili, the Sagra de su Pani Arrùbiu represents not just a moment of celebration, but a genuine opportunity to celebrate our cultural identity and the traditions that define us as a community," Mayor Andrea Locci said on the eve of the "Su Pani Arrùbiu" festival, scheduled for tomorrow, part of the Primavera in Marmilla program . "This year too," Locci emphasizes, "we want to offer visitors a unique experience that combines flavor, history, and hospitality, placing the most precious and defining symbol of our food and wine heritage at the center."
This is the second, highly anticipated event for Primavera in Marmilla. Tomorrow, the entire day will be dedicated to discovering "Su Pani Arrùbiu," a unique bread in Sardinia. It's a small civraxu enriched with simple yet precious ingredients: durum wheat flour, raisins, orange zest, and saffron, which give the bread its distinctive reddish hue—hence the name, which in Sardinian means "red bread."
As stated in a press release, "This typical product is made according to a centuries-old tradition, two Mondays after Easter, during the celebrations in honor of Sant'Antioco. Its origins lie in popular devotion: it is said that in the early 1900s, a woman prepared it as a votive offering, asking the Saint for her husband's healing. Since then, 'Su Pani Arrùbiu' has been brought to church to be blessed and then distributed to the faithful as votive offerings."
"This event," continues the mayor, "is the fruit of the shared commitment of citizens, associations, local operators, barracelli, the Altopiano della Giara Foundation, and the Administration who, as always, passionately contribute together to keeping an ancient tradition alive, while at the same time enabling it to dialogue with the present. We invite everyone to participate and discover Tuili through its flavors, its knowledge, and the warmth of its people."
"The Sagra de Su Pani Arrùbiu represents one of the most significant events in our calendar, because it embodies the authentic value of tradition, devotion, and the identity of our villages," emphasizes Francesco Sanna, President of the Sa Corona Arrùbia Tourist Consortium . "Through events like this, we want to continue to showcase the true essence of Marmilla, made up of ancient knowledge, a sense of community, and a connection to the land. Primavera in Marmilla is precisely this: a shared journey that connects our local communities and transforms them into a unique experience for those who come to visit."
