Her husband dies in Sorso and she abandons her disabled children to her sisters-in-law. A fifty-one-year-old woman was yesterday sentenced in court in Sassari by Judge Anna Pintore to a 5-month suspended sentence and a 2,000 euro provisional payment, accused of violating the obligations of family assistance.

The contested facts refer to the period between August 2021 and January 2022, when the woman suffered the grave mourning of her partner's death and, not having the necessary means of subsistence, moved in with her husband's sisters. And as the prosecutor Antonio Pala, who was in question yesterday, recounted, she effectively separated from her children by going to another Sardinian town and, according to the accusations, no longer providing for their moral or material support. This despite the fact that she received an allowance for the disabled minor which, the public prosecutor reports, she would have withheld for her personal purposes .

The brothers' aunts reported deep discomfort in the Courtroom for the maternal disinterest, and they then decided to turn to the court from which, after some time, they obtained the guardianship of the boys and the compensation money . For the civil party lawyers Marcella Oggiano and Maria Giovanna Roggio the responsibilities of the fifty-one year old would be evident and aggravated by the fact that the other son also has a disability.

According to the defense attorney Maria Antonietta Camboni, however, her client paid a sum equal to approximately 1,400 euros in the contested period. And if the prosecutor had requested a sentence of 7 months, the judge, as written, ordered a sentence of 5 months .
