Sorso, fatal illness after football match: 50-year-old man dies

Tragedy in Sorso, after an 8-a-side football match at the Borgo degli Ulivi Stadium.

Maurizio Serra , a 50-year-old resident of Sennori, died after collapsing to the ground following a challenge played late Tuesday evening.

The amateur footballer had just finished playing on the fields of the sports facility, when he felt ill while he was heading towards the car to return home. The 50-year-old died of a sudden heart attack.

The intervention of the 118 health workers who tried to revive him in vain was of no avail. The Carabinieri were on site and sent a report to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
