The municipal administration of Sorso has been awarded funding of 621 thousand euros through participation in the call for proposals on urban regeneration of the Sardinia Region .
The project submitted by the Municipality of Sorso was awarded the maximum score assignable, i.e. one hundred points out of one hundred.
The regional funding, to which is added 279 thousand euros of municipal co-financing, for a total of 900 thousand euros, is intended for two interventions that will affect respectively the area of relevance of the Sant'Anna school and social center and the area of the gardens of via Cesare Battisti .
In the Sant'Anna school and social center, architectural barriers will be eliminated, green spaces and other areas enclosed between the various buildings will be redeveloped. These will then be directly connected to the underlying orchard overlooking via Sant'Anna, which can then be made available to the pupils who attend the nursery school as well as to all users of the revitalized socio-cultural center as a whole. Finally, a play area with anti-trauma flooring and a new public lighting system will be created. In the Garden of via Battisti, new sidewalks, internal paths and areas for free time and recreation will be created, and the plant cover will be redeveloped. In this case too, a new lighting system and new furnishings are planned.
"We cannot but be deeply satisfied with the work that the entire Authority continues to carry out," said Mayor Fabrizio Demelas, "always maintaining a high level of concentration on all the planned objectives. The sites that will be the object of the regeneration intervention have deserved for years the attention that they will now receive and that will allow them to be returned to the Community with a new look and greater and safer usability, transformed into places suitable for hosting various activities of aggregation, socialization and integration, aimed at all citizens of Sorso, from the young, to the elderly, up to people with fragility and the disabled."
