A race against time to ensure elementary and middle school students had classrooms available for the start of the new school year. The goal was finally achieved.
The Municipality of Soleminis, upon completion of maintenance and safety work, returned the town's two school buildings, which had been closed for over a year, to the Dolianova Comprehensive Institute. The middle school on Via Sirios was declared unfit for use in November 2023 due to structural problems, and the building on Via Stazione a few months later, in March 2024, due to water infiltration. As a result, over 100 students from Soleminis were forced to move to Serdiana, where the municipal administration had made available the premises to house them.
Now, things are finally back to normal. Over the past few weeks, work has been completed and classrooms have been prepared for the start of classes. Further work will be needed at the Via Sirios building to repair the external staircase and install a fire door. To allow the students to return to school, access routes have been clearly separated and an escape route has been provided so that maintenance work does not interfere with classroom activities.
