Snow below a thousand meters in Sardinia, the alert remains due to gusts of the mistral

In the first weekend of March snow returned to Sardinia, even below a thousand metres.

Gennargentu is whitewashed. But the white flakes also appeared late yesterday evening in the towns of Fonni, Desulo (945 meters above sea level) and Tonara (910 metres).

Snow also in Gallura on the Limbara mountains and in Genna Silana, above a thousand meters in the municipality of Urzulei, in Ogliastra. It also snowed during the night when temperatures dropped. But this morning, despite the entry of strong gusts of mistral (in Bosa Marina the waves reached the road), the mercury has reached two degrees and the white blanket in the streets is slowly melting.

In Fonni in the early hours of the morning the municipal administration had to send municipal vehicles to the most critical points: intersections and uphill roads near schools, offices and clinics. And Anas and the Province of Nuoro also sent their vehicles to clear some roads which nevertheless remained passable, such as the Fonni-Desulo.

Temperatures between today and tomorrow are still rising and the situation should improve in the next few hours. Today new civil protection alert for rain, strong wind and storm surges in much of the island until midnight.
