Snow attacks Gennargentu: weather respite, few disruptions
The white blanket is not thick but families from the north and south of the island have flocked to the hills of FonniServizio di Gianfranco Locci
The snow cover isn't thick, but it's enough to attract numerous Sardinians from all over the island to Fonni and its mountain, looking to spend a Sunday with a difference.
The roads leading to the main mountains have been reopened, while ANAS vehicles have been working on all at-risk state roads : approximately 30 workers and 12 service vehicles, salt spreaders, and snowplows have been in operation since early this morning in the provinces of Nuoro, Ogliastra, and Oristano, and in the Gerrei area. In northern Sardinia, 6 vehicles and 12 workers were active.
Families from both the north and the south arrived in the Gennargentu, all equipped to minimize travel difficulties, including snow socks and tire chains. And the disruption was kept to a minimum, thanks in part to traffic police checks.
