Seulo is still dealing with a power outage. This is not a new situation for the little more than 750 inhabitants, 787 meters above sea level in the Barbagia region.

Since Saturday evening, the town's two electrical substations have been hooked up to two large generators after Friday's exceptional snowfall caused disruptions to the overhead power lines serving the town. In addition to the disruption to residents and businesses, the mayor, who immediately convened the municipal civil protection operational committee, has decided to keep all schools in the area closed until November 29th, unless further notice or revocation is given . "We are hooked up to two generators; one is working well but serves 30% of the population, while the other, the one further up the hill and serving approximately 70% of the municipal area, is constantly disconnecting, leaving residents and businesses without power for several hours," Mayor Enrico Murgia explains. In town, he continues, "there are no underground power lines, and those lines, which pass through trees, have been cut off in several places by the snowfall. The intermittent electricity is causing a crisis for businesses and is burning out the circuit boards of household appliances, but fortunately many people have fireplaces in their homes to keep warm.

The municipality is also monitoring the situation of vulnerable people and is in contact with the prefecture for any emergencies. Meanwhile, the mayor is appealing, including on social media, to residents to reduce consumption: "Given the critical situation with the generator located on Via San Pietro, we ask residents to use appliances sparingly. In particular, we ask them to unplug the water heater and reconnect it sporadically when necessary to reduce energy consumption. This time, it's up to us. Let's try."

E-Distribuzione technicians are currently working to resolve the generator fault that is causing service disruptions. The equipment is located in a rugged, sloping mountain area that is difficult to reach.
