He submerges the garbage containers and throws the rest on the ground. It happened in Sassari one morning a few days ago, in the Monte Rosello Alto neighborhood, when a person unloaded the contents of his van and then drove away, unaware that a resident had noticed everything and photographed the license plate, later informing the local police.

Following the investigation, the vehicle and its driver were identified. The driver was fined €1,000 and had his vehicle registration confiscated for 30 days. The Local Police's intervention is the result of increased enforcement of behaviors that compromise urban decorum. This is the first time in Sassari that administrative detention has been imposed for environmental violations. This possibility is provided for by the 2025 "Land of Fires" decree, which introduced a crackdown on littering.

If a person abandons urban waste (for example, next to dumpsters) using a motor vehicle, an administrative fine of between one thousand and three thousand euros is imposed, along with the additional penalty of administrative impoundment of the vehicle for one month. The same applies to cameras: local police can issue deferred fines based on municipal video surveillance.
