Workers from the GeNa company and the Elleuno social cooperative who manage the rehabilitation center and psychiatric facilities in Sassari demonstrated in front of the regional health department in Cagliari to defend their jobs.
The sit-in was organized at the same time as the meeting between councilor Carlo Doria and the trade unions (CGIL, CISL and UIL) to discuss the future of psychiatric assistance in Northern Sardinia.
There are 130 jobs at risk, 40 in Elleuno and around ninety in GeNa.
In fact, the Department and Ares have ordered the closure, starting from 30 June, of the "Le Ginestre" facility with 20 beds, a closure that adds to that of the "I Mandorli" community, which had 16 beds.
For Gena, on the other hand, it is the "inadequate" tariffs determined by the Region that do not allow for the maintenance of all staff, thus putting dozens of jobs at risk.
The unions have asked Ares and councilor Doria to take a step back to guarantee both jobs and assistance services.
