Emotions, smiles, and a few tears for the couple chosen this year to renew the ancient rite of the Selargino wedding, Simona Putzu and Marco Sarritzu, already civilly married ten years ago.
"Today is the confirmation of our love and our union, which has also given us two wonderful children," they said emotionally on the day of their wedding, chained together, with little Angelica and Leonardo at their side. For the bride, it was a special day dedicated to her mother Anna, who passed away several years ago. "It's as if she were here with us."
Preparations began early in the morning with the pre-wedding rites, the bride and groom dressing with relatives and friends, and then the procession to the parish church of Maria Vergine Assunta for the Mass in Campidanese dialect celebrated by Father Nicola Ruggeri, who traveled from Monserrato. This culminated in Simona and Marco's "I dos," followed by their union with a chain, a symbol of eternal love.
A celebration of faith, history, and tradition, with the colorful folk groups that once again this year have come from all over the island to parade through the streets, lovingly decorated by the residents . Everyone wears traditional dress, from Campidano to Sassari, and even Ogliastra. And then there's the inevitable, spectacular wedding cake prepared by expert pastry chef Anna Maria Sarritzu.
"This event has become a celebration for the entire community, now known and appreciated even beyond the region's borders," emphasized Mayor Gigi Concu and longtime Pro Loco president Gianni Frau with satisfaction.
