The unions announced it two days ago: "In the event of a lack of agreement, we are ready to strike." And that day is getting closer. After the meeting requested by Councilor Bartolazzi (which was later cancelled), the largest hospital on the island has been left at the mercy of discontent, with its few staff who "in addition to being the most overburdened with care workloads, are the least paid in Sardinia."
This is what we read in the press release from the Usb Sanità union, which laments " the very serious problems affecting the Arnas Brotzu of Cagliari, currently composed of two hospital facilities: S. Michele and Businco, and from January 1, 2025 the Microcitemico will be incorporated again". " In the regional health context - explains the regional union representative Gianfranco Angioni - in recent years the hospital company has been involved in two health reforms that have led to a merger of the three reference health centers, distorting the "mission" assigned to San Michele, divided into three areas: emergencies, highly specialized surgical activity, multi-organ sampling and transplants".
The serious health problems would be linked to the dismantling of territorial services and the closure of several departments of the ASL facilities. "The Arnas health personnel - explains Angioni -, now already reduced to the bone compared to the needs, must deal with a high number of patients coming from all over the regional territory".
"The Health Councilor - the press release continues - and the various Regional leaders must immediately allow the expansion of the organic endowments and prepare the increase of economic resources for the costs of the real need for personnel. It should be emphasized that the Brotzu staff, in addition to being the most overburdened by care work loads, is the least paid in Sardinia. A shameful and intolerable situation that must be remedied without delay and hesitation with the equalization of contractual funds". "The Region - concludes Angius - must immediately liquidate and distribute the ten million euros, as clarified by the Constitutional Court. Without these measures an irreversible implosion is certain to the detriment of the operators, and of the sick throughout Sardinia. An unacceptable situation that must be avoided".
