Alarm was raised last night after a fire broke out in Sestu, inside a hay bale warehouse owned by a 54-year-old man from Cagliari.

The flames, which affected a significant portion of the stored material, were extinguished thanks to the timely intervention of the Cagliari firefighters, who prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent structures. No injuries were reported.

The Carabinieri and firefighters are currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage.

The suspicion is that the blazes may have been caused by arson . The owner of the warehouse is convinced of this, and published a post on Facebook, which reads: "There are those who can't stand to see others build something with their own hands. There are those who are envious of the commitment, passion, and sacrifice of others. And so they destroy. They burn. Because they don't know how to create. It's so infuriating to see our warehouse... the fruit of months of sacrifice, sleepless nights, and sweat... go up in smoke because of a cowardly act, by people driven by envy or jealousy, is something we cannot accept. Burning what others have painstakingly built is not only a crime, it's an act of cowardice. Whoever did this must know that flames can destroy a warehouse, but not the strength, dignity, and passion of those who created it from scratch."
