When Pietro Picchedda sat behind the wheel of a truck and was able to drive for a few minutes, he was moved . It was the surprise that Luca Carboni and the other organizers of Convoy Truck Day in Sestu organized for him.

Because Picchedda, 51 years old, from Gonnosnò, also a truck driver, had to say goodbye to his job in 2017, after a driving accident that left him in a wheelchair .

Until last Saturday, when he was able to experience the thrill of driving a giant of the road again. A scene also shared on social media, seen by thousands of people.

"They invited me, and when I arrived, Luca simply told me to get on one of the trucks. I thought he was joking, but in an instant he lifted me up and started pedaling while I turned the wheel, and I was able to take a short ride. Everyone applauded me, and I started crying with emotion ," Picchedda recalls.

"I was sitting sideways in the cab, and Pietro was turning the wheel. He and I hadn't met until recently; we'd just happened to meet online for the first time. I talked about it with my father, Diego, and my brother, Nicola, and I immediately decided to do something for him," explains Luca Carboni. Because at heart, you'll always be a truck driver.

"I've dreamed of this job since I was a kid, when I played with models. You dominate the road, see wonderful places, meet special people," Picchedda continues, and gets emotional again as he talks about it.

"In this job, we're all brothers. You meet someone and it's like you've known each other forever. Now Pietro and I talk often and will see each other again, to organize something together," Luca Carboni concludes.
