"The Region's actions continue to achieve the ambitious 80% separate waste collection target by 2022 and the Council's measures are aimed at consolidating and improving results. Thanks to the commitment of citizens, local administrations and the Region, the Sardinia has been confirmed, for two consecutive years, the second region in Italy for the quantity of municipal waste collected in a differentiated manner, going from 72.9 to 74.22% ".

Thus the councilor for the defense of the environment, Gianni Lampis , after the approval of the resolution which allocates a total of 649 thousand euros in favor of fifteen municipalities for the construction of collection centers and the completion of existing ones, to be placed at the service of the separate collection of urban waste, as well as for the recovery of public areas degraded by waste abandonment.

"After having also approved the 'Guidelines' for the regional adoption of the 'punctual rate', based on the waste actually collected, in order to obtain a fairer distribution of costs for citizens, an increase in the percentage of separate waste collection , a lower production of urban waste and a lower landfill, we want to complete the territorial endowment of plant infrastructures ", added the commissioner Lampis.

For the construction of new eco -centers and the completion of existing ones , resources have been planned for nine municipal administrations, for a total of 440 thousand euros: 80 thousand euros each in Ballao and Morgongiori for a new eco-center; 40 thousand euros each to Barisardo , Genuri , Luras , San Teodoro , Suelli , Tuili and Villanova Tulo for the completion of the eco-center. Instead, for the environmental recovery interventions of degraded areas due to waste abandonment, including the collection and transfer to specific recovery or disposal plants, as well as the realization of investments that allow to dissuade from further abandonment, resources have been programmed for six administrations municipal, for a total of 209 thousand euros: Cardedu 70 thousand euros; Buddusò 56 thousand; Esterzili 28 thousand; Sestu 25 thousand; Sanluri 20 thousand; Ruinas 10 thousand.

"The revenue relating to the application of the tax for the disposal of solid waste in landfills - concluded Lampis - is intended for the establishment of a fund for environmental interventions and can be used to encourage less waste production, recovery activities raw materials and energy, the remediation of polluted sites, including abandoned industrial areas, the recovery of degraded areas, the financing of regional environmental agencies, the establishment and maintenance of protected natural areas, related environmental investments to waste deriving from the production sector subject to taxation ".
