A huge crowd attended the twentieth anniversary of Calici di Stelle in Sennori, celebrating with nearly three thousand glasses of wine sold and a flood of people from all over the surrounding area, spread out along the ten tasting stations along the route to sample the fine wines of Romangia. Among them were a large number of foreign tourists. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Mayor Nicola Sassu, Sassari Prefect Grazia La Fauci, Culture Councilor Elena Cornalis, and other municipal councilors, as well as heads of local institutions and law enforcement. Also in attendance were Antonella Viglietti, head of the strategic projects office of the Sassari Chamber of Commerce, and Giuseppa Tanda, who was thanked for her commitment to the process that led to the Domus being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the performances of the Gigantes masks, the songs of the Sennori Polyphonic Choir, and the dances of the folk groups “Janas” and “Sos Femminedos,” the alleys and squares of the historic center were crowded until late at night, with music, exhibitions, and workshops.
Welcoming them were the stands of Agreste Natura, Cantina Leo Conti, Cantina Fara, Cantina Nuraghe Cabrioni, Cantina Mode, Cantina Ruiu, Cantina Sorres, Viticoltori di Romangia, Nico Loriga, and Giacomo Urgeghe. A space reserved for Moscato DOC, curated by the Il Lentischio association, was a must. Baby tickets also sold out. The food section was curated by the Pallacanestro Sennori, San Basilio, Santa Lucia, San Biagio, San Giovanni, and Madonna degli Angeli associations. "We are delighted with this great turnout," stated the mayor, "and we are certain that the experiential format, that of the workshops where tourists become the protagonists of the event through firsthand participation in activities that recall Sardinian tradition and craftsmanship, has worked particularly well."
All the organizers wore T-shirts with the peace flag, this year's central theme. "This edition of Calici aims to be a hymn to peace," said Councilor Cornalis. "Our T-shirts speak of peace, and along the route, there's an Emergency stand, where everyone can make a small donation to the doctors working in Gaza." The route was enlivened by music from local bands and stories of the grape harvest, making the tastings unique. Installations and exhibitions curated by Vanni Rocca, Betti Casula, Delia Fiori, Antonella and Dina, and Piero Doro further enhanced the event, adding a touch of magic to the opportunity to toast with glasses while gazing at the stars through the telescopes of the Turritana Astronomical Society. But the stars of the event were especially the evocative Domus de Janas in the Orto del Beneficio parish garden, recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The event is organized by the Municipality, the Proloco, and the Sennori Music Band.
