The fire that attacked some household goods this afternoon in an area along state road 387, in the Selargius area, has been extinguished.
The fire broke out among the carcasses of household appliances, plastic material, and other waste, with smoke visible from afar.
Several motorists traveling on the highway raised the alarm, prompting the firefighters to arrive with three vehicles, dousing the flames with a large amount of water. No one was injured.
After the fire was extinguished, the site was cleaned up. An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
This is yet another fire this summer in areas near the main road where piles of waste proliferate.
