There was fear this morning on Via Roma, one of the busiest streets in the center of Selargius, where a collision occurred between a car and a scooter.

According to an initial reconstruction, the car, driven by a man in his eighties who was traveling from Via Sant'Olimpia toward Via Dante, failed to yield the right of way. The worst affected was the driver of the two-wheeler, a young man who was thrown to the ground after the impact.

Local police officers and 118 paramedics responded immediately to the scene. The young man was transported to the Brotzu Hospital emergency room with a yellow code. However, his condition is not cause for concern: doctors have given him a 10-day prognosis.

The area where the accident occurred has recently undergone roadworks: new asphalt and newly painted road markings. "The problem isn't the road, we need to be more careful when driving," appealed Marco Cantori, the local police commander. "We've just completed the work, and the road markings are perfectly visible. We urge everyone, drivers and motorcyclists, to respect the rules and pay more attention at intersections. Only in this way," Cantori concluded, "can accidents like this be avoided."
