Francesco Davide Piras, 34, was arrested on charges of attempted murder. He is believed to be responsible for the stabbing that took place last night following an argument that broke out in a well-known restaurant in Selargius. The victim, 42, is a relative of the restaurant's assistant chef with whom the attacker had had an argument involving beatings shortly before.

The story still needs to be reconstructed and the Carabinieri of the Quartu mobile radio operations unit and their colleagues from the Selargius station are investigating the episode.

From the first rumors, according to what was told by some witnesses, it would seem that Piras went to the restaurant last night armed with a baseball bat, immediately heading to the kitchen to try to beat up the young assistant cook. The boy was apparently hit, but then his colleagues and the owner of the business managed to disarm the attacker, calling the police.

When the military arrived, however, the boy was no longer there. According to the investigators' reconstruction, which is yet to be confirmed, it seems that the assistant cook, with a relative and a friend, then went to Piras' house for clarification. From here a new fight would have started, with Piras who with a knife hit the forty-two-year-old at least five times - including once in the lung. The injured man, around 9 pm, showed up in his car at the emergency room of the Policlinico di Monserrato: he underwent an initial delicate operation, and was transferred to intensive care, with a prognosis of 60 days.

Stopped by the Carabinieri, Piras – defended by the lawyer Fernando Vignes – was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor Andrea Massidda and placed at the disposal of the investigating judge for validation.
