Fight against counterfeiting, illegal trafficking including foreign currency, seizures of dangerous goods, fight against illegal gaming: these are some of the sectors in which the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Sardinia is engaged, which after eleven years has its own regional management again, based in Cagliari.

The data and results of the 2021 activity were highlighted by the director Roberto Chiara. "We have registered increases in all fields", explained Chiara.

"After the worst year linked to the pandemic, with a decrease due to fewer movements of people, in 2021 the resumption of movements led to an increase in results". The men of the Agency also carried out checks on compliance with the use of the Green pass and anti-contagion masks.

The recovery of the markets is also highlighted by the sharply increasing export licenses and authorizations. Numerous seizures of non-compliant toys, slot machines disconnected from the official network, boats connected to tax evasions or financial crimes, but also shells, pebbles and sand taken away from Sardinian beaches by tourists and intercepted at the island's airports.

The Agency has a laboratory for tests on drugs, also used by the police, and for checks on the quality of fuels and olive oil.
