Seat on its knees due to the rain: closed roads, landslides, infiltrations in barracks and places of worship

The heavy rainfall and very intense storms that occurred after midnight yesterday in central Sardinia have caused damage and flooding especially in Sedilo. In the municipal area, according to the surveys carried out, some of the highest quantities of millimetres of water fallen on the island were found.

The most significant consequences occurred in the place dearest to the community, the San Costantino area. In fact, a significant part of the lower part of the imposing wall was torn away. An urgent ordinance was therefore necessary from Mayor Salvatore Pes to close the roadway to traffic from the second arch down. "There were landslides and slips of the ground and the partial collapse of the boundary wall of the Sanctuary," explains the mayor, "so much so as to jeopardize the safe traffic flow of the road in the Portale e Ferru - Tramatza overpass section . Therefore, I felt it necessary to issue an ordinance with the prohibition of circulation until the completion of the works necessary for the complete restoration of the road system."

To delimit the area, the intervention of municipal workers was necessary and now the damage count is underway to quantify the resources needed to intervene and allow the municipal technical office to quickly start the necessary works. The goal is obviously to reopen the road, in order not to create further difficulties for the breeders who operate on the land upstream of the SS 131 dcn.

In the countryside of the town no further significant damage was recorded while in the urban centre two homes were flooded, fortunately without major problems for people.

Antonio and in the barracks of the Carabinieri. Serious damage also in the provincial dirt road 24 Sedilo - Ghilarza closed.
