Italy is the first country in the EU27 for bathing water of excellent quality (4,272), which is equivalent to over a third of European waters with this status (14,471).

This is what emerges from the sixth edition of the Istat report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which presents the update and analysis of the statistical measures aimed at monitoring the 2030 Agenda for our country. And which places Sardinia in second place of the Italian regions , after Puglia, for the greater presence of excellent waters, 97.3% .

The data refer to the report's Goal 14, “Life below water”.

4,850 bathing sites were monitored , of which 4,272 are classified as excellent (88.1%), in line with the EU27 average value (88.3%), 319 of good quality (6.6%), 135 sufficient ( 2.8%), 92 poor (1.9%) and 32 with insufficient sampling (0.6%).
