Summer Solidarity 2026 is underway, the Municipality of Cagliari's plan to protect the most vulnerable by preventing health and social risks and strengthening the local assistance network.

"Summer Solidarity 2026 is much more than a set of services. It's a safety net that unites communities and institutions ," remarked Councilor Anna Puddu. "Our goal is to reach those most alone, before the heat becomes a serious risk to people's health and dignity."

At the heart of the program is the strengthening of reception facilities for those experiencing severe marginalization or homelessness , with facilities open longer, every day of the week, and a widespread network of offices throughout the city. Alongside reception, the telephone helpline, a service managed with the support of the Red Cross, is being strengthened . Wider reception facilities are also planned for those experiencing severe marginalization and the homeless, with access starting at 2:00 PM (instead of approximately 6:00 PM), seven days a week, and in all existing offices. The City Council and Social Services also encourage residents to report situations of distress in their neighborhoods and apartment buildings, thus helping to build a widespread network of solidarity capable of intercepting even the most hidden cases.

Among the plan's most significant actions is the free beach escort service to Poetto Beach (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), aimed at those over 70 and those with disabilities . Two dedicated buses, with scheduled routes throughout the city, will allow beneficiaries to reach the sea safely in the morning hours. Two bathing areas for people with severe and very severe disabilities, and their caregivers, will be opened at beach facilities made available free of charge to residents by the Armed Forces. And then there's the support for families.

Financial support for minors attending summer camps is also planned for 2026, aimed at families with low ISEE. Summer activities for children up to age 17 will take place at Neighborhood Centers, offering social, recreational, and cultural activities, art workshops, and academic support.
