4461 students of the University of Cagliari, with satisfied merit and income requirements, remained without a scholarship . The spark was triggered yesterday by the Progressives and the Democratic Party, who called for immediate intervention from the Region.

The reply was not long in coming, with the councilor for public education, Andrea Biancareddu , who spoke on the topic: «Since I have been councilor», explains the representative of the council, «no eligible student has been left without a scholarship and so it will be this year too."

A question of time, despite the difficulties arising from the reduction of the share of the State Supplementary Fund intended for Sardinia: «We will go», continues Biancareddu, « from 15 million and 512 thousand euros last year to 13 million and 271 thousand euros . This reduction will also lead to a consequent reduction in the share due to Sardinia from the Pnrr funds, which we estimate could be equal to 1.9 million euros".

In fact, 4.1 million are "missing". A figure that the councilor hopes to find soon: «I have already presented the financial proposal some time ago which, if the Regional Council approves, could find space in the budget change that will be discussed in the Chamber in the coming weeks . Should the approval process in the Chamber slow down, I will be able to authorize the Ersu of Cagliari and Sassari to use the Administration surplus for this purpose".

In the meantime, however, some moves have already been made: «I remember that in the context of the Financial Statement, on my proposal», adds Biancareddu, « a further 1.3 million were financed to cover the increase in costs resulting from of the increase in the amount of the grants and the extension of the ISEE threshold, which went from 24,355 to 26,306 euros".
