Scano Montiferru confirms itself once again as a land of longevity and celebrates a new member in the centenarian club: Tia Giggia Dettori. She reached the century of life last Saturday, November 16, thanks to a healthy diet and that mysterious and archaic elixir of long life that the grandparents of Montiferru jealously guard. Tia Giggia blew out one hundred candles in the company of the affection of her loved ones, her grandchildren and the entire community of Scano. The Dettori family is a long-lived one, her brother Angelo is still alive at 95 years old, while the other sisters passed away at an advanced age: Angelina at 98, Maddalena 94, Leonarda at 86.

Iron granny, until a few years ago she was still in excellent shape and lived alone in her house, but for five years she has been carefully hosted in the “Panzali” senior living community . When she was healthy she had many passions, from sewing to traditional Scanian cuisine, she was very good at producing Casizolu and artisanal sweets. She loved to travel and also did a lot of volunteer work as a Red Cross nurse.

Mayor Antonio Flore Motzo with deputy Pietro Ghiaccio and parish priest Don Alessio Picconi paid homage to the little old lady with a special plaque for the venerable milestone . From Mayor Motzo an affectionate dedication: «Life that flows is a gift for those who live it and for others who are close to us, for those who love us. And gratitude has full value in sharing».
