Eliminated two roundabouts out of the six planned for the intermodal center in Sassari. This is what the council has established for the works that, in the near future, will change the traffic flow in and out of the city.
Therefore, a stop to the interventions , planned by the previous executive, on via dei Gremi and between viale Porto Torres and via Madonna della Mercede , where the one-way traffic and parking will remain.
The unused amount will flow into the redevelopment of the area in front of the Teatro Ferroviario in order to verify which is the best solution to modify the access to the train station. The roundabouts between Corso Vico and Via delle Conce, those between Via Padre Zirano, Piazza Santa Maria and Via XXV Aprile, the other after the railway underpass, and finally the one between Via San Paolo and Via della Madonna della Mercede will remain.
The will of the municipal administration arises from technical, environmental and economic reasons, suggested by the interface with other entities and which concern in particular Porta Sant'Antonio, Piazza Sant'Antonio, Via Saffi and Corso Trinità.
The Intermodal Center takes concrete shape with the regional delegation to the Municipality in 2014 , in 2021 here is the feasibility study of 7 million and 800 thousand euros, in 2023 the approval with prescriptions of the technical and economic feasibility project and, the following year, the green light for the definitive project that includes interventions on roads, redevelopment of via XXV aprile, transformation of piazza Sant'Antonio and construction of the bus station in viale San Paolo.
"This is what I mean by reasoned continuity - comments Mayor Giuseppe Mascia - Re-discussing from scratch what has been done so far is not good for the city and is not in the interest of the community. After decades of discussions we want to close these issues and move on . But our only interest is to give the road system the most sustainable and best possible structure by opting for solutions that, even after discussion with the technicians, seem more functional to us to manage the traffic around what will become the hub of the city and the territory with greater safety and smoothness".
