The Teatro Civico reopened yesterday in Sassari after a five-year closure.
The inauguration took place on the day of the Epiphany and was embellished by a concert by the Sardinia Jazz Orchestra in front of the highest civil, military and religious authorities of the province.
"We inherited from the previous administration - explains Mayor Giuseppe Mascia - an almost finished job that we completed with 200 thousand euros from the municipal budget". A sum used for various improvements such as, among others, the renovation of the electrical system and the water service.
«The important thing is that it now returns to being a place of frequentation and therefore of social cohesion where there will be not only the consumption of cultural activities but also production».
A year with prose shows, musical events and dance is therefore expected for the return to full swing of the Teatro Civico. "As for the management - concludes the mayor - we are working on it. We will make an expression of interest and a tender in which we will determine the use of the theater".
During the evening, singers Denise Gueye, Giuliano Rassu and students from the Luigi Canepa Conservatory of Music in Sassari performed.
