Evicted after 34 years. Sacra Famiglia will no longer manage the sports facility on Viale Adua in Sassari after Marzio Lepri won the new management tender. This decision has left a trail of controversy and protests , explained yesterday in the Sacra Famiglia parish hall by association representatives to the many parents present. "Meanwhile, we find the termination of the contract unlawful ," stated Daniele Deiana, president of the association, "especially since it occurred two months before the contract was due to expire . We have requested access to the documents and will take the case to the Regional Administrative Court."

In August, the municipal administration announced it was terminating the contract, "without explaining why," and made a statement. Then the tender was put out and the competitor won. "The logic of numbers prevailed," Deiana continues, "and not that of the social project."

The ASD's mission, founded way back in 1989: "At the time, it was a sandpit, where drug addicts hung around, and Matherland would come once a year." Then came the commitment of the Holy Family, including through a series of projects submitted to the Municipality , which led to the current facility with its synthetic turf soccer field. "We had also submitted a further €200,000 redevelopment project that included a covered grandstand, a roof over the soccer field, and other improvements. They didn't even take that into account."

The ASD notes that 160 children are currently without a pitch : "Thirty percent can't even afford a soccer school, and we help them. Among other things, we've given them valuable experience by having them participate in tournaments outside Sassari."

Last Wednesday, a diplomatic incident almost occurred when the association's children were denied entry to the field , as the board recalls, and the mayor's intervention temporarily resolved the situation. "We avoided calling the police to spare the children the drama."

Now, however, while waiting to see the documents, the Holy Family is looking for a home in other fields , with all the difficulties that this entails, and is asking for help to prevent the downsizing of an entity that has made the sporting and social history of Sassari.
