A strike is scheduled for today at Mondo Convenienza in Sassari. The Filcams CGIL union has called for a strike, announcing a strike.
The union claims in a statement that this is "a form of protest against the company's decision to impose compulsory work on weekday public holidays, effectively denying workers the freedom to choose whether or not to work."
The CGIL defines the company's attitude as "closure" and "self-referentiality" , "which unilaterally decides which holidays deserve opening and which do not, transforming an individual right into an imposed obligation".
For Filcams, this is "an approach that leaves no room for dialogue, discussion, or mediation, and ignores the fundamental values of respect and participation that should guide every working relationship." "Freedom of choice," the trade association concludes, "in such situations is not a privilege but a minimum requirement for civility and a work-life balance."
