Inter-force checks this morning in the historic center of Sassari. Carabinieri, State Police, Guardia di Finanza and local police patrolled in particular the area of San Donato, stopping several people who were asked for documents and residence permits. The police then entered some houses in the streets for further checks.

The operation follows the one carried out about 10 days ago, also in Sassari Vecchia, and comes almost a month after the blitz by the State Police that led to 14 arrests in Sassari alone, 30 in total throughout Italy. A raid aimed at dismantling a gang that is facing charges, among others, of mafia-style criminal association and international drug trafficking.

The recent meeting of the security committee, chaired by the prefect Grazia La Fauci, had announced frequent checks in the historic center area.
