Sassari, four employees at risk after twenty years in the Asl 1 territorial pharmacy

They risk losing their jobs in Sassari after almost twenty years of experience.

They are four pharmacists employed by the social cooperative Ctr onlus, who work in the local pharmacy of ASL 1 for the Integrated Home Care service (ADI) with an average seniority of fifteen years and with a permanent contract.

In a letter sent to the information channels, doctors Anna Maria Letizia Carboni, Maria Desolina Filigheddu, Maria Giovanna Scanu, Grazia Maria Sechi report the following: «From the news received from numerous sources within the health authority and the cooperative, the contract for Ctr will expire on June 30 and the contract with accredited entities (including Crt) will begin on July 1. The accreditation requirements set by the Region in 2023 do not provide for the preparation of drugs and medical devices to remain the responsibility of accredited entities».

The possibility of losing one's job therefore seems certain. "This decision - they continue - in addition to penalizing our highly specialized professionals in this sector from the point of view of job protection, will create a disservice that will harm the over 2500 patients in ADI distributed in the territory of the ASL 1 SS (Sassari, Alghero and Ozieri)".

The work of the professionals consists of "daily dispensing medicines at home and other forms of care to patients who are often in serious conditions or disabled. It is a service that, in addition to the obvious professional skills, requires the formation of experience in relationships that are sometimes complex but always characterized by maximum help and maximum affection with the families of suffering people ."

The task is not limited, they explain, «to preparing the material to be sent to patients, since in addition to the devices (influx sets, syringes, gauze, etc.), we dispense drugs of various types, including hospital drugs that guarantee therapeutic continuity upon patient discharge, advanced dressings for the treatment and prevention of bedsores, enteral and parenteral nutrition, chronic therapies and antibiotics».

Finally, the bitter consideration on the decision taken and what awaits them: "To date, we do not know if from July 1st we will still be able to count on our work or if we will pass to the unfortunately numerous category of the unemployed; that it is a public body that is increasing it, adds general concern to the personal pain of each of us".
