Two months and 200 euro fine. Even at second instance, yesterday in the Court of Appeal in Sassari, prosecutor Paolo Piras asks for the same sentences for the 22 defendants for the fascist salute aimed, in September 2018, at the coffin of Professor Giampiero Todini.
Homage took place in the churchyard of San Giuseppe on the occasion of the teacher's funeral. A gesture that went viral after its publication on social media and led to the denunciation of the 22, accused of having violated the Scelba law which in article 5 punishes «anyone who, with words or gestures, participating in public meetings, carries out the usual demonstrations of the dissolved party fascist".
However, in first instance, in 2021, judge Sergio De Luca acquitted the defendants because "the fact does not exist". Yesterday the lawyers Antonio Mereu, Milena Mura, Patrizia Marcori, Pierluigi Olivieri, Sophie Nurra, Bachisio Basoli also discussed. The sentence is expected in October.
