Thirty tenants, some of them disabled, with the lift out of service for 10 months. It happens in Sassari in an eight-story building owned by Area in the Carbonazzi district, in via Ugo La Malfa 18.
«We can't take it anymore - explains Giacomo Pinna, resident and head of the staircase - there are 80-year-olds and seriously ill people here. There are people who don't leave the house».
And many are forced to pay someone to bring their groceries or not to have surgery because they don't know how to climb the stairs and get home.
«My son has heart problems - reports Renato Pintus, another inhabitant - and lives with me on the seventh floor. What's he doing with all these steps?'
The regional housing company already awarded the task to a company last year but the appliance always remains stationary. «It would seem - reveals Stefano Lupinu, provincial secretary of Sunia, the national unitary union of tenants and assignees - that there is a lack of spare parts. We are working in synergy with Area General Manager Filippo Riu to find a solution».
Now the 14 families, who have already prepared their quota for the works from 2022, have appointed a lawyer to proceed against Area. «If they don't fix the lift - continues the 83-year-old Pinna - we will go to court. We are retired, let us die in peace.
