Hemodynamic instability as a possible factor in death. Today in court in Sassari, experts Ernesto D'Aloja and Fabio Verzini, appointed by judge Claudia Sechi, spoke with the parties in the trial in which nine doctors are accused of manslaughter for the death in 2018 of seventy-three-year-old Carlo Dessole from Sassari. The pensioner, hospitalized due to the unanchoring of a stent, had lost his life on March 11, 7 years ago, due to the consequences of a ruptured aneurysm and after undergoing surgery .

The two professionals, D'Aloja in person, Verzini remotely, explained the conclusions of their expertise where a fact emerges, illustrated by D'Aloja according to medical statistics. This highlights how a patient, and this is the case, affected by hemodynamic instability, and who has suffered a type B endoleak 1, has a 78% chance of not surviving . An event where, for example, the pressure has dropped below 80 millimeters, as happened to Mr. Dessole. Endoleak means the persistence of flow inside the aneurysm (aneurysmal sac) excluded by the endoprosthesis, and b because it occurs in a precise position of the body.

For the two doctors, these are scientific evidences that are independent of any intervention on the operating table done before or after . And among the accusations of the prosecution is precisely that the operation took place too late because it was decided to do some tests, such as the CAT scan, which, given the situation, according to the prosecutor, could have been avoided. The public prosecutor had already discussed, before the expert request of the judge, asking for 6 minimum sentences and three acquittals. The magistrate adjourned to June for the further, conclusive discussion in order to pronounce sentence before the crime becomes time-barred.
