The arrests of five non-EU riders involved in a brawl yesterday in Piazza Nazario Sauro in Sassari were confirmed today in court in Sassari.

Three Afghans and two Pakistanis were arrested by the Carabinieri after they and others had been hitting each other with fists, chains, and even bicycle locks for 20 minutes.

The clash had led to the injuries of some of them, one of whom, present at the direct hearing today, received a full facial injury.

When the Carabinieri arrived, several of the attackers, according to some witnesses, had managed to escape. Judge Monia Adami released them, requiring them to sign in at the barracks.

The two Pakistani men were represented by lawyers Paolo Bellu and Antonella Puggioni, while the Afghans were represented by lawyers Francesca Arru and Giuseppe Corso. The lawyers requested time limits, and the hearing in the case will be held on June 23.
