From a symbol of degradation to a space for socialization , redeveloped with green areas and the elimination of architectural barriers. The executive project on Piazza San Donato in Sassari, approved by the council led by Giuseppe Mascia, is about to give the go-ahead to one of the interventions that should change the face of one of the areas of the historic center associated with petty crime and discomfort .

A project financed with 1 million 660 thousand euros from Next Generation EU , which will lead to the restyling of the widening of Via San Cristoforo, which leads towards the Comprehensive Institute of Via San Donato and is enclosed on the sides by Via Angius, Via Moscatello and Via Fontana.

«The redevelopment project of the San Donato square - explains the mayor - has the objective of restoring identity and soul to the urban space , with particular attention to the quality of living and accessibility».

The program includes the reconstruction of underground utilities, such as water and sewerage networks, the preparation for telecommunications networks and the renewal of public lighting around the school building . The construction of the square is expected to take one year.

"We want to finish within the expected time, that is, by March 2026," says the mayor. "The offices will do what is necessary to award the works within a short time."
