Man and horse unite as one: for two days they live in total symbiosis, otherwise it wouldn't be Sartiglia. The steed that rides in front of hundreds of people is the beating heart of the Carousel.

This year 126 horses will parade in via Duomo and via Mazzini. Most are geldings with bay coats. There will be many English thoroughbreds present but there will be no shortage of Anglo Arabs. The horses have been in town since October for preparation before the big day. They arrived from every corner of Sardinia.

Everyone arrives on the track healthy, as foreseen by the project which has as its objective the protection and well-being of the animal, promoted and managed since 2012 by the Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Sassari, with Agris and the local health authority. A veterinary commission assessed the health and physical-motor status of the horses, all of which underwent the necessary health checks to highlight any pathologies in order to declare the horses suitable to participate in the carousel. Now all that remains is to admire them on the track.
