Many Sardinian municipalities are offline: no or inadequate internet connections and insufficient mobile phone coverage. The mayors complain: "This significant digital divide only amplifies the geographic isolation of communities that already suffer from historical shortcomings in physical infrastructure and public transportation."
From Mandas to Fonni, from Austis to Seulo, there's a unanimous chorus of protests. Meanwhile, the Region is relying on NRRP funds to bridge the digital divide. This involves €500 million to guarantee high-speed lines to all municipalities, but so far only half of the projects have been completed.
