The Interior Minister: "Procedures have also been initiated to activate additional facilities in six regions." At the next EU summit, a plan "to counter mass illegal arrivals" will be presented.

Regarding repatriation detention centers, "we will continue working to activate an additional 106 places in existing facilities in Sardinia, Sicily, and Lazio," Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi stated during question time in the Chamber of Deputies.
"We have also started," the minister added, "the procedures for the construction of new facilities: one in Campania, two in Trentino Alto-Adige, one in Calabria, one in Tuscany, and one in Emilia Romagna."
Piantedosi announced that "at the next EU Council meeting with Justice and Interior Ministers, scheduled for early October, the European Commission will present "an action plan to prevent and combat sudden mass illegal arrivals of migrants with the aim of strengthening cooperation between member states, consolidating the EU's external borders, dismantling migrant smuggling, and increasing repatriations."
