The awards for the 2023 "Sardinian Journalism - Press Officer of the Year" award announced by the Press Office Group (GUS) of the National Federation of the Italian Press were awarded this morning in Cagliari. The ceremony in the headquarters of the Sardinian Press Association. The meeting was attended by the president of the Order of Journalists of Sardinia, Francesco Birocchi , the member of the board of the Sardinian Press Association Filippo Petrucci (representing the president Simonetta Selloni ) and the national vice-president of the GUS, Sergio Nuvoli .

There are two competitive sections of the Award: Greca Meloni (CRS4) was awarded the prize as the best press officer in the Public Administration. For the businesses, private and non-profit organizations section, the award went to the freelancer Pietro Calvisi . There are two special prizes foreseen by the competition: the Press Officer Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Francesco Porceddu (SOGAER), while the Special GUS Journalist Award was awarded to Pierluigi Corona (Fondazione Teatro lirico).

The role of press office journalists, as underlined by Nuvoli, «is now irreplaceable. They perform a filter function between the organization they work for and their editorial colleagues, avoiding the shortcut of advertising. Those who carry out this job have no timetables or canonical holidays. This is why we wanted to reward a colleague and three colleagues who, in many years of journalistic profession, have always shown absolute loyalty and transparency."
