“We need everything but not lies – adds the woman -. The other day, for example, the gauze was missing . We even got to the point of bringing gauze from home because clearly the Brotzu pharmacy supplies its structures first and then the external ones; so for everything: from the staff, to the transfusion bags. What we could have done before by going down one floor, we now have to do by organizing and coordinating a thousand aspects, crossing the traffic of the entire city in an ambulance , with immunosuppressed children to reach the Holy Trinity, even to do a simple procedure, an electroencephalogram. But the Holy Trinity is far away and there is no specific pediatric care. He is physically far from our ward and from all the other pediatric specialties, far from everything a hematological oncology patient needs. It is not the same thing to manage a pediatric patient: different drugs in specific doses, suitable equipment. It means that the days go by like this, with the staff nailed to inventing organizational solutions, waiting for bags to give transfusions that have to make long and tortuous journeys».
